First visit

What happens at your first visit

A first visit takes about 45 minutes. It is a conversation, an exam and a plan, in that order.

You do not need to prepare anything except a list of what you take and what you have had done. We do not ask about your health on this website. Your doctor asks in person, and what you say stays in your chart.

In order

Four steps, none of them rushed

  1. 01

    Step 1: Check-in

The front desk takes your name and plan information and shows you where to wait.

  2. 02

    Step 2: A conversation

Your doctor asks about your history, your day and what you want from care.

  3. 03

    Step 3: An exam

Movement, posture and the joints that bother you, checked by hand. X-rays only when medically necessary.

  4. 04

    Step 4: A plan

Your doctor explains what the exam shows and what the options are. An adjustment happens the same day only if your doctor recommends one and you agree.

Bring

What to bring

  • Your plan information

Your insurance card, if you use insurance.

  • A list of what you take

Medicines and supplements, so your doctor knows the whole picture.

  • Clothes you can move in

Comfortable clothes. You stay dressed for the exam.

First-visit questions

Will I be adjusted at my first visit?

Only if your doctor recommends it and you agree. You can also decide to wait.

Do I need x-rays?

Not usually. We take x-rays only when medically necessary, and your doctor explains why first.

Can someone come with me?

Yes. Many patients bring a family member.
